Flood victims

There has been flooding in different areas of Colombia and this picture shows some of the families that we met that had lost everything they owned. One of our churches in Bogota gave us money to buy them a dinner, they hadn't had any kind of meat for a couple weeks, and also to give each family some bags of food. We had a wonderful evening singing with them, some of the people of our church performed in a drama, and Tim was able to share the gospel. What a blessing it was to share God's hope with these people at Christmas time!

Christmas at the orphanage

Our son Tim is here with us for Christmas and went with us to celebrate the holiday with the girls at the orphanage. We brought each of them a pretty pair of socks, flower hair clips, and some candy. They were so excited and have always appreciated any little thing that we bring them!

Christmas program

The children of our church performed a number of songs for our Christmas program and 6 of them memorized poems about celebrating Christmas in different countries around the world. They all received a special plate of Christmas cookies at the end!

Kid's camp

Seven of the children from our church heading off to Kid's camp! They went from Dec. 13-17 and had an awesome week learning God's word, playing lots of games, and making a lot of new friends!

Feminario (Ladies Day)

This was a special meeting that we had out at our camp with ladies from our churches in and around Bogota. This picture shows some of the pastors wives as we are getting ready to choose names for prizes. Sondra, in front of me and Marcela on our left, along with their husbands, helped us to start our church, El Camino. What a great blessing to spend time with all these ladies!

Couple's Retreat

What a sweet time of fellowship we had playing games, sharing some delicious food and learning about raising our children as Christian parents. Diego, the second person from the left in the back row of the picture, heard the gospel for the first time. We had invited him to church many times before but this was the first time he has come out for something, and I think he had a better time than anyone!

Love and Friendship Banquet

We had a night of fun with the adults of our church to celebrate their Love and Friendship holiday. This is like our Valentines Day but is celebrated throughout September. We had a spaghetti dinner and played a number of games. In the picture we have 3 couples answering questions about their spouses like "Where do you think your wife would like to go on a romantic vacation?" or "Which superhero is your husband most like?" We had lots of laughter and found out we have a number of Superman's in the church!

Field Council Retreat in Ecuador

Our missionaries that we serve with here in Colombia and also the Davoll family that serves in Ecuador enjoyed a team retreat together in Mindo, Ecuador. We spent the mornings learning about dealing with conflicts and then in the afternoon: hiking, fishing, eating and other activities together!

Ladies Day

These are some of my ladies that come to my weekly Bible study on Thursdays. Right now we are studying Having a Mary heart in a Martha world by Joanna Weaver. We also have a special ladies day on Saturdays about every other month. This will have a special theme and give my ladies that work a chance to be encouraged also!

Our 25th wedding anniversary

On July 27th we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary! What a blessing these last 25 years have been and we're looking forward to the next 25 years together also!

Vacation Bible School

We enjoyed a fun day with our church kids at VBS. We had songs, a Bible story, games, a craft and lots of fun! We had about 6 visitors come but also had a chance to reach out to our neighborhood as we canvassed and handed out information about our church.

Omar's Ordination

On June 13 was the ordination of Omar Benites. Omar and his wife Marcela had worked with us since the start of El Camino and now they are continuing the ministry there. They have been such a blessing for us to work with and we are so thankful for how God has worked in their lives and excited to see how He will use them in the future!

Teen meeting

Tim took some of our teens into Bogota for a teen meeting with teens from all our churches in Bogota. They had a great time fellowshipping with other teens as they studied God's word and had some fun playing games together also!

Youth at El Camino

While Omar is in Peru this month Tim is working with the youth at our previous church, El Camino. He was encouraged to see the youth group growing and their enthusiasm to study God's Word!

We celebrated a special Kid's Day at our church on Good Friday. The children have the whole week off from school and we had about 25 children come, about 10 of those were visitors. Our teens did a drama about The Tale of the Three Trees, it was so excellent! You can see the slideshow of that and also some of the other fun things that happened that day at the bottom of this page!

Ministry at Orphanage

One of the ministries at our church in Funza is to reach out to a girl's orphanage. We have songs, Bible stories, snacks and games. As I finished an activity this week, I threw out some scraps of paper that I had written verses on and a girl about 11 years old took them out of the garbage so she could take them back to her room and read them again. It will be a challenge to work with these girls that have so many needs!

Marias baby shower

Today we had a baby shower for Maria. It has been such a blessing to see Maria and her husband Carlos grow in the Lord over the years! I was so happy to get to be here for this special day as they look forward to the birth of their son Carlos Daniel in May.

Settling back in Colombia

We are so happy to be back in Colombia! We had really enjoyed our time in the States visiting with family and friends but also had missed our friends and ministry here. We have enjoyed being with our church, El Camino, and seeing how they have grown over this past year. It was a blessing to be here to celebrate the 7th anniversary of our church! We praise the Lord for how they have grown and matured over the years. The video shows our teens singing a special for the church.
